My name is Sophie Prudent. I joined Kather Augenstein as a lawyer after my admission to the bar in September 2021. I advise national and international clients in all areas of intellectual property law. Since 1 June 2026, I have held the position of Senior Associate.

Already during my studies at the University of Cologne I gained experience in the field of intellectual property and competition law. During my legal clerkship, I worked, among other things, in a large commercial law firm in various areas of commercial law.

Already during my studies at the University of Cologne, I gained experience in all areas of intellectual property law as part of the focus area “Intellectual Property and Competition Law”. During my legal clerkship, I worked, inter alia, in various areas of commercial law at a major corporate law firm

Since October 2020, I have been pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree at the Center for Intellectual Property Law of Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, Germany, in order to further deepen my knowledge in this field and to further expand my specialization.

Representative cases
  • Participation in a series of patent infringement actions relating to twelve different standard-essential patents before the Mannheim and Munich Local Divisions of the Unified Patent Court, as well as national courts, including the first injunction granted by the Unified Patent Court based on a standard-essential patent.
  • Participation in patent infringement proceedings concerning an invention in the field of food technology before the Hague Local Division of the Unified Patent Court.
  • Participation in multiple disputes involving medical devices before the Düsseldorf Local Division of the Unified Patent Court.
  • Participation in preliminary injunction proceedings relating to a safety feature for a ride-on lawn mower, including the enforcement of the injunction at a trade fair.
  • Participation in patent infringement proceedings concerning terrace roofs
  • Participation in a patent infringement case concerning oven drawer slides
  • Participation in a series of patent infringement actions for infringement of 12 different standard-essential patents at two court locations – mobile communications / LTE, 5G
