Vita

My name is Melissa Lutz. Since my admission to the bar in 2022, I advise and represent national and international companies in various industries in all areas of IP law.

As part of my studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität of Bonn, I majored in “Business and Competition” and gained my first experience in all areas of intellectual property rights at an early stage. Furthermore I studied one year at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in the area of Commercial Law.

During my doctoral studies, I worked as a research assistant in a medium-sized business law firm in Cologne in the field of intellectual property law, in particular trademark and competition law.

After passing the 1st State Examination in 2017, I completed my doctorate at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in International Competition Procedural Law with Prof. Dr. Michael Loschelder on the topic: “Jurisdiction and the power of cognition according to Art. 7 No. 2 Brussels Ia Regulation in the law of unfair competition”. During my doctorate, I worked as a research assistant in a medium-sized commercial law firm in Cologne in the field of intellectual property law, in particular trade mark and competition law.

The special strength of Kather Augenstein’s team is that it consists of one piece and is extremely variable. Partners and associates can be added to a core team at any time in order to absorb work peaks and to conduct complex processes precisely and with the necessary depth.

Legal 500 Deutschland, Ranking 2022

During my legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf, I had the opportunity to further deepen my experience and specialisation in intellectual property law in a large commercial law firm, among others.
